William A. "Bill" Green 76, of Riverside, RI passed away peacefully on August 29, 2021 with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Carol A. (Clark) Green.
Bill was born on December 25, 1944 in Fall River, MA to the late William Green and Roberta (Heywood) Green.
Following his graduation from SMU, he taught math and A.P. Statistics at BMC Durfee High School until his retirement.
Bill coached youth tennis and also became an official for the USTA. He was proud to have served as a Linesman and Chair Umpire for some professional matches, including Davis Cup. He was a loyal Red Sox and Patriots Fan.
On May 21, 1977, he married Carol (Clark) Green. Carol and Bill were both members of barbershop choruses and met when he became musical director of her group. Together, they enjoyed many years of their musical hobby. Bill sang with the Narragansett Bay Chorus and previously directed the Harmony Heritage chorus of which Carol is a member. In addition to their barbershop singing hobby, Carol and Bill enjoyed traveling and camping in their free time. They also enjoyed their quiet Sunday mornings working on the crossword puzzles. Bill was a good and kind man and a loving husband.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Carol, his brother Robert, brother-in-law William C. Clark of College Park, MD, sister-in-law Susan L. Dube, her husband Chris and nephew Christian of Newington, CT.
In lieu of flowers donation to HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center 1085 North Main Street Providence, RI 02904 can be made in Bill’s memory.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Ave Riverside, RI 02915, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM in the Funeral Home.
