Theresa Jo (Browning) Scott

Theresa Jo (Browning) Scott, 90, of Barrington, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Billy Ray Scott.

Born in Quinlan, Texas, a daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Pitts) Browning, she lived in Barrington for over 55 years.  Theresa worked in a variety of positions during the course of her life, including telephone operator, jewelry foreperson, and clerk, before retiring in 1995.  She was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed traveling, loved people-watching, and had a wonderful sense of humor, ensuring there were always a lot of laughs whenever she was around. Above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family, who she loved and adored more and more with each passing year and with each additional grandchild and great-grandchild. She was truly a bright light that will be missed by all. 

She is survived by her beloved children, Kathey & John Spitaleri of East Providence, Alan & Ericka Scott of Somerset, MA, Vickie Scott of Barrington, and Tammie Scott of Warren.  She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Desiree, Dallas, Dawn, Demi, Johnny, Caitlin, Ashton, Ashley, Lauren, Sarah, Dylan, and Haylie, and her precious great-grandchildren, Quincy, A.J., Justice, Sophia, Jaxson, Kingston, Noah, Matthew, and Brock.  She also leaves sisters-in-law, Bobbie Lytle, Wanda Skidmore, and Pamela Watts, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Herman Browning, and her sisters, Imogene Ross, Evelyn Crawford, and Margie Powell.  She was the mother of the late Carolyn Scott. 

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the many special staff members of Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice not only for the wonderful care and comfort they provided to our Mom/Granny but also for their care and concern for our whole family. Thank you all so much.

The funeral will be held on Friday December 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915. Calling hours will be held on Thursday December 19, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM and also on Friday December 20, 2019 from 9:00-10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow the funeral home service in the Rhode Island Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI 02882.
