James A Darling

James (Jim) A. Darling, 65 of Riverside passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18th at his sister’s home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Providence, RI to the late Richmond A. Darling Sr, and the late Helen L. Darling (Couture) who greeted him with open arms along with his late brother Richmond Darling Jr. and son Nicholas Chalmers.

Jim was a graduate of East Providence High School, and joined the Army soon after graduation. After his years of service Jim came home to Riverside where he continued to build his life. He worked for several companies before finding his forever job of 25 years at New England Union in West Warwick. Jim loved to fish, kayak, camp, garden, shoot pool and to just be outdoors with friends and family. He was an avid race car fan who never missed a race in New Hampshire, he also owned property in Vermont where he enjoyed “living off the grid”.

He leaves behind his wife Linda Darling (Bailey) of Riverside, his daughter Jeanne Winfield (Darling) and spouse Robert Winfield Jr. of Pascoag, and son Jason Calvert and spouse Nicole Calvert of Bristol. In addition he leaves behind his sister Patricia Regan and spouse William Regan Jr of Pascoag, and brother Michael Darling of Riverside, 2 brother in laws Michael and Mark Bailey of Rhode Island, 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Visitation be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave, Riverside RI.  02915. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM, in St. Brendan Church 60 Turner Ave Riverside, RI 02915, Burial will follow in The North Burial Ground 1081 Hope St Bristol, RI 02809, with full Military Honors..
