Isabella J. (Swaine) Mahoney

Isabella J. (Swaine) Mahoney 89, of Barrington passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4th 2022.  Born in Providence, RI in 1932, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Janet Swaine.  She was the wife of the late Norman Mahoney.  She is survived by one sister, Joan Warrick of West Newton, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her four children, Janet Mahoney of Barrington, Norman Mahoney of Barrington, Sharon Zimmerman and her husband Thomas of Barrington, and Gordon Mahoney and his wife Laura of Champlin, Minnesota.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin DiOrio and her husband Anthony, Kelly Holmes and her husband Patrick, Michael Zimmerman and his wife Meagan, Matthew Mahoney, and Sarah Mahoney and her fiancé Ross Kellermeier, as well as her great-grandchildren AJ, Owen, and Mack DiOrio.

She was raised in Warren, R.I. and graduated from high school in 1949.   After meeting at the Kickemuit Grange, she moved to Bristol with her husband where they owned a turkey farm.  Eventually, they moved to Barrington with their four children and she worked locally as a bank teller at various banks.  Throughout her life she was an active member in the Kickemuit Grange #24, Daughters of Argyle, and Eastern Star.  In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting bonnets for newborns at Women and Infants, sewing comfort pads for cancer patients, and watching her favorite team the Boston Red Sox.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and beating her close friends at Barrington Cove apartments in Bingo.  In all aspects of her life and everywhere she went, people often commented on her sweet demeanor.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2022 at Smith Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, R.I. 020915.  Visiting hour from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 AM. to which relatives and friends are invited. A private burial will follow for family members.
