Patricia Treat Obituary

Patricia Cassella Treat 77, of Bristol, RI died unexpectedly Sunday, January 20, 2019. Born in New Haven, Connecticut she was the daughter of the late Pasquale (Pat) and Viola Casella.

A former teacher and real estate representative, Patti leaves behind four siblings, twins Judy DeMartino and Catherine DeCrescenzo, Peter Cassella and MaryAnn Lipsett.

Patti and John Treat we’re married 56 years and with two children, Mark Treat and Lisa Treat and two grandsons, John (Jack) Rowe Treat and Ryan Shannon Treat.

Patti was a Master Gardner involved with the Garden Club for 45 years.  She was a member of the National Organization of Italian American Women and The League of Women Voters and a sponsor for UNICEF. Patti was active with the Providence Handicraft Club for many years.

Patti had other interests including her gardening, PPAC and the Arts. Patti kept herself current with worldly events as an avid reader.  She cared about the world, our freedoms and the people who defend our freedoms.

A gracious and loving person, Patti was devoted to her family, and was known for her kindness and warmth with many friends and acquaintances.

Patti loved to cook for her family and friends and would often extend her dinner table to friends who were alone.  Every holiday was festive with decorations and the table was always set a week in advance with the formal silverware.  Patti thought of every detail including calligraphy name cards for all the guests.  She felt most happy when she was surrounded by her family and friends.  She adored having her grandson and his friends over to watch them play sports and talk about the events.  She treated all of her grandson's friends as her own grandchildren.

Patti kept herself fit by walking daily and gardening.  As a Master Gardner she knew all the plants and how to make them flourish.  She often would "split" her plants and give to others for their own gardens.  Her gardens were an extension of her spirit.

Taking care of people was a gift Patti had.  She would quietly bring dinners to several families, donate to Veterans, and help with the flowers at her church.

Patti is loved by all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.
