James H. D’Onofrio 91, of East Providence, RI was born on March 11, 1932 and died at Hope Health Hulitar Health Center on January 25, 2024. He was the son of Mildred V. Johnson and Anthont D’ Onofrio. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Lewis) D’Onofrio with whom he shared a wonderful life until her passing.
He is predeceased by his son, James A D’Onofrio. He is also survived by his cats, Whiskers and Dana.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Jim served stateside durning the Korean War.
He is best remembered for his sense of humor, his impeccable manners and his knack for story telling.
He relied on his faithful caretakers, Michelle English and Rosa Germosen for many years and regularly attended the East Providence Senior Center where he enjoyed the company of his many friends. Many benefited from his kindness and generosity especially the many stray cats that passed through his life.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday February 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Ave Riverside, RI 02915, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery Greenwood Ave East Providence, RI with full Military Honors.
