Jean M. Galbraith

Galbraith, Jean M., 81, of Riverside, RI, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2018 surrounded by members of her family. She was wife of the late Robert E. Galbraith and daughter to the late Merton Manchester and Edna Barker.  

Jean grew up in Barrington, RI and graduated from Barrington High School in 1954.  She retired from Amica Mutual Insurance Company in 1999 after working there for over 25 years.

In her life, Jean enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and the occasional trip to the casino with her late husband Robert.  As an animal lover she was always surrounded by furry members of the family and frequently made room in her heart or on her lap for new editions.  Perhaps her favorite pastime was sharing moments with her growing family whether it be Sunday meals at home or family cookouts throughout the state.  

She leaves behind her daughter Heidi Kelley of Riverside, RI, her son Gordon G. Stroupe of Cumberland, RI, her stepdaughter Linda Wood of Clearwater, FL, and her two stepsons Robert Galbraith of Warwick, RI and David Galbraith of Barrington, RI. She also leaves eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Edna May Manchester and her stepdaughter Cheryl McNamara.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday February 10, 2018 in St. Matthew and Mark’s Episcopal Church, 5 Chapel Road, Barrington, RI 02806, at 11 AM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hope Hospice of Rhode Island at www.hopehospiceri.org.
